Badsey Soapbox Races

are a fun and free to watch event sponsored by Badsey and Aldington Parish Council and run by a committee of Parish Councillors and local residents. The event takes place on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The day starts with Scrutineering from about 10:00am at the Wheatsheaf Inn, Practice from about 11:45am and Races from about 1:00pm.

The event costs are met by sponsorship from local companies, other sponsors and the entry fees for the soapboxes.

The races started in 2016 after a chance discussion in the local village pub - like so many ideas! This led to a group of people deciding to try and put on the first races. It was taken to the Parish Council who agreed to make it a sponsored village event. Over time the organisation has improved as we have learned lessons from previous events. In a similar way the entrants have honed their soapboxes to the specifics of the course in Badsey.
